I won my first pet portrait a little over a year ago when I entered my dogs pictures in a contest on this site. I was so impressed with this free portrait, I ordered 2 other portraits in the following month. One was of my 2nd dog and one was of my daughter's dog. I was extremely happy with the results of both purchased portraits. In the summer of 2014, my sister lost her parrot which she had for over 20 years and my first thought was to have Debbie do a memorial portrait of the bird "Alex" as a gift. I wasn't even able to give Debbie a great picture to work from but the portrait still turned out fantastic and members of my family are still talking about it. ~ Lorraine Sullivan

I had an electronic painted portrait done of my dog Snowball who left us 3 years ago. Debbie could capture her beautiful spirit and I could feel the life coming out of that portrait; just like if Snowball was alive and looking at me. I am truly impressed by her talent.~Kaly White

When it became time to paint our dogs' memorial portraits, I knew that there was only one person I wanted to work with. Debbie has a wonderful eye for detail and showed such care to insure that these final portraits were a treasure. My beloved Campbell and Burberry are so life like, I can't help but smile when I walk by their wall. Debbie is talented and professional. Her work is perfection. ~ Karin Steinway

Debbie has patiently worked with me now three times! The personalities of each of my beloved dogs permeate the canvas that now graces my walls. I am not a regular internet shopper and Debbie painstakingly walks me through each step, I look forward to my third portrait arriving next week. I highly recommend Debbie. ~ Wendy Baker

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!

THE BEST PHOTO'S

When selecting a photo for a portrait, look for a clear bright photo. Outdoor photo's do well. Blurry photos have a lower pixel and are hard to blow up to work with sufficiently, so detail is limited. I will accept indoor cell phone pics (if not too bad). Also if your photo doesn't show the true colors of your subject, this will cause the portrait to not be what you are expecting. If the colors are off, PLEASE add a note to the bottom of the forms letting me know. And send multiple photos for me to compare to. I want your portrait to be all that it can be. With your help on selecting a photo it will be a crucial step, so please consider all of your options. You may send multiple photos (via computer please, not from a cell phone or screenshots) to see which would work the best. Thank you for making your portrait all that it can be for a lifetime of wonderful memories. If for some reason I don't think your photo will work well, I will email you asking for others. To cut down on back and forth asking you, feel free to send several.

I would like to say, I am able to make subtle changes and I expect those small changes to the portrait (so that it looks like your pet or whatever we are painting) once I get close to the finished product. So please decide what you would like before ordering. If you are not sure, feel free to email me and let's talk it over and get some ideas. Once portrait is painted and you selected, a certain color of background or alike and decide on a different color, you may incur more charges for the extra time to change it since that's a big change. I can do subtle changes to the subject or objects but I cannot move an object (for example a toy) once it has been placed and painted in portrait. More time would be involved. I want you to be happy with your portrait for many years but I also cannot spend a week of work on it for $70 or whatever that cost may be for your choice of portrait. Please understand my time is valuable as well and so in cases like this, I will have to add a cost for changes made. I don't like to do this and try to avoid it at all costs, but sometimes, it just takes work to make big changes. Thank you for this understanding.

When you buy from an independent artist you are buying more than just a painting or a novel or a song. You are buying hundreds of hours of experimentation and thousands of failures. You are buying days, weeks, months, years of frustration and moments of pure joy. You are buying nights of worry about paying the rent, having enough money to eat, having enough money to feed the dogs. You aren’t just buying a thing - you are buying a piece of heart, part of a soul, a private moment in someone’s life. Most importantly, you are buying that artist more time to do something they are truly passionate about; something that makes all of the above worth the fear and doubt; something that puts the life into living.”
